FORT HOOD, Texas — Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive Jan. 18 at his off-post residence in Harker Heights, Texas.

Sgt. Tyler Dylan Compton, 21, whose home of record is listed as Stafford, Virginia, entered active-duty service in October 2010 as an infantryman. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since April 2017.

Compton deployed in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel from September 2015 to March 2016 and April to November 2017.

Compton’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, Two Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal.

Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation by the Harker Heights Police Department and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command.
