FORT HOOD, Texas — Leaders of the 1st Cavalry Division are scheduled to conduct a retreat ceremony Friday at 2:30 p.m. on Cooper Field here.
During the ceremony, the division will bid farewell to Brig. Gen. Christopher R. Norrie, Deputy Commanding General – Maneuver and Col. Matthew J. Cody, Division Chief of Staff. Leaders will also formally welcome Col. Brett G. Sylvia, incoming Deputy Commanding General – Maneuver.
Sylvia will be promoted to brigadier general shortly before the ceremony at a separate location.
Norrie and Cody will be recognized for their contributions to the First Team during their tenures at the division.
Sylvia will formally be presented the 1st Cavalry Division patch and Stetson during the ceremony.
The ceremony will conclude with the 1st Cavalry Division Band and Honor Guard conducting Retreat and lowering of the Colors followed by a cavalry charge performed by the 1st Cavalry Division Horse Cavalry Detachment.
