FORT HOOD, Texas — Col. Matthew J. Van Wagenen, 1st Cavalry Division Deputy Commander - Support, will be promoted to brigadier general during a retreat ceremony scheduled for Friday at 2:30 p.m. on Cooper Field here.
Van Wagenen recently served as the Commander, Task Force Southeast in Gardez City, Paktia Province, Afghanistan from April to August 2017. Van Wagenen previously commanded the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Tx from June 2014 to March 2016.
Van Wagenen will be available to interview after the ceremony.
