36th Engineers open new $40 million barracks

FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood senior officials will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new $40-million 190,000-square-foot 36th Engineer Brigade barracks at 2 p.m. Dec. 2 on 25th Street and Old Iron Side Avenue on Fort Hood.

The barracks will house approximately 480 Soldiers. The barracks has been in construction for 541 days and consists of 240 modular units at 600 square feet each. 

During the ceremony, Fort Hood's senior mission commander, Garrison commander, Fort Hood command sergeant major, Corps of Engineers senior officials, Department of Public Works director, and barracks management will cut the ribbon to Fort Hood's newest barracks.
