FORT BLISS, Texas — Motorcycle enthusiasts from the 1st Battalion, 362nd Air Defense Artillery, Task Force Renegade, 5th Armored Brigade, Division West, participated in the Fall Joint Armed Forces Motorcycle Safety Rally here recently.

The rally promotes motorcycle safety to all active duty, National Guard, Army Reserve, retirees, Family members, Department of Defense and contract civilians.

The ride began around 9 a.m. with about 350 riders heading to White Sands Missile Range, N.M., the halfway point for the ride. The stop gave riders an opportunity to get gas and something warm to drink for combating the 45- to 50-degree temperatures. The riders then turned around and headed back to Fort Bliss.

“The ride was an outstanding day of fun with friends and Family and, to top it off, it was a great day of riding,” said Sgt. 1st Class Richard Dwyer, 1st Battalion, 362nd Air Defense Artillery, Task Force Renegade.

The battalion’s robust motorcycle mentorship program is led by Master Sgt. Cody Thomas and the brigade’s motorcycle mentor, Master Sgt. Randall Roland. Brigade leaders made it a priority for all motorcycle riders to be present for the rally

The “Renegade” Battalion leads the brigade with the highest percentage of riders qualified with the proper motorcycle safety courses required by Army regulations.
