May 6 meeting with Hasan defense team delayed

FORT HOOD, Texas -- At the request of Maj. Nidal M. Hasan's defense counsels, the May 6 meeting between the defense and Lt. Gen. Donald Campbell, III Corps and Fort Hood commander, has been delayed until the week of May 16.  A specific date for the rescheduled meeting has not been set.

Campbell approved the rescheduling to ensure defense counsel can present all matters for consideration at the pending meeting.

Campbell serves as a general court-martial convening authority. The charges pending against Hasan have been forwarded to the general for disposition.

Campbell's decision will be made sometime after his meeting with Hasan's defense counsel. No deadline has been set for Campbell's decision.

Hasan is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
