FORT HOOD, Texas — Fort Hood will host its 44th annual Retiree Appreciation Days, Oct. 26-27.

The two-day event is to celebrate and show appreciation for those of all services who served their nation.

The event begins Oct. 26 with a retiree golf tournament at the Courses at Clear Creek.

III Corps will host the monthly retirement celebration 4 p.m. at the III Corps Headquarters flag pole. This month Mr. Charles Green, who is the former director of U.S. Army Garrisons Human Resources will be honored along with 27 retiring service members.

On Oct. 27, the morning kicks off at 6 a.m. with a free breakfast at Club Hood. The opening ceremony begins at 9 a.m. Lt. Col. Thomas McKenna, director of retired and annuitant pay, Defense Finance and Accounting Services, Cleveland, Ohio will be the guest speaker.

A County Fair will also be available from 8-9 a.m. at Club Hood and continues after the opening ceremony.

Also on Oct. 27, legal assistance will be available from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Bldg. 13, 52nd St. and 761st Tank Battalion Ave.

A health fair is also offered by Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center providing immunizations, blood pressure checks and other routine health screenings.

The Department of Veterans Affairs Mobile Veteran Center will be set up in the parking lot of the Copeland Center to assist veterans with any issues or questions regarding benefits and entitlements.

The 1st Cavalry Division Horse Detachment will conduct a demonstration at the stables behind the visitor’s center beginning at 2 p.m. The event wraps up on Saturday night with the retiree round-up dinner at Club Hood. R.S.V.P. by calling (254) 287-5210.
