FORT HOOD, Texas — Leaders from the 1st Cavalry Division are scheduled to conduct a Retreat Ceremony Friday, May 18, at 2:30 p.m. in honor of the First Team’s departing Deputy Commander - Support.

Brig. Gen. Matthew J. Van Wagenen will be honored at the ceremony for his time served as the 1st Cavalry Division Deputy Commander - Support. Van Wagenen recently served as the Commander, Task Force Southeast in Gardez City, Paktia Province, Afghanistan from April to August 2017. Van Wagenen previously commanded the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, from June 2014 to March 2016.
