FORT HOOD, TX — Soldiers and leaders of the 1st Cavalry Division are scheduled to conduct a memorial rededication ceremony on Friday, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. on Cooper Field here.
Nine new names of Soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel will be added to the division’s Global War on Terrorism memorial. The memorial was last updated and rededicated in 2010. These Soldiers were either assigned directly to the division or to a unit who fell under the division while deployed.
Senior leaders from Fort Hood and Central Texas will be in attendance as well as Gold Star Family members.
Soldiers who paid the ultimate price during previous conflicts and wars will also be honored during the ceremony.
